The research group Climate-Sensitive Infectious Diseases lab (https://hei-planet.com/csidlab-2/, https://www.beprep-project.eu/), at Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) of Heidelberg University, is offering a position as academic employee, part-time 80 % starting as soon as possible, initially limited to one year:
 
**Academic Researcher health and climate data analysis for EU project BEPREP (f/m/d)**

**Your tasks:**

Apply and further develop machine learning methods for the analysis of health and climate data

Conduct spatio-temporal analyses of patient and climate datasets to identify spread patterns

Develop predictive models for outbreak detection and risk assessment

Generate risk maps and early warning indicators for zoonotic infectious diseases

Create dashboards and lightweight applications to visualize research outcomes

Analyze large-scale datasets related to infectious diseases and climatic influences

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within and beyond the university

Contribute to the publication of scientific research findings

**Your profile:**

- Excellent Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Natural Sciences or a closely related field
- Strong programming skills in Python and R
- Experience in software development, particularly in dashboard or web application creation
- Familiarity with geospatial analysis, GIS tools, or related technologies is a plus
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
- Genuine interest in global health, climate change, and infectious diseases
