PhD Position (m/f/d) - Innate Immunity in the Tumor Microenvironment

Full- or part-time | temporary (24 month) | Institute of Clinical Chemistry and Pathobiochemistry

The lab of Prof. Jürgen Ruland at the TUM Research Insitute for Translational Cancer Research (TranslaTUM) studies mechanisms of innate and adaptive immune signaling pathways and their alterations in malignant and inflammatory disorders. Our international research group is broadly embedded in the Munich biomedical research community, supported by several Collaborative Research Centres funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), an ERC Advanced Grant, and the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize from the DFG. We established a series of novel model systems to dissect the function of innate immune signaling pathways in the tumor microenvironment and are looking for a PhD student to join our laboratory.

Investigate innate immune signaling within the tumor microenvironment - with emphasis on metabolic regulation - using complementary in vitro and in vivo models.
Plan, execute, and analyze experiments; ensure rigorous documentation and contribute to presentations and publications.
Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team; coordinate with students, collaborators, and core facilities to advance project goals.

You hold a MSc or equivalent degree with a solid background in immunology and molecular/cell biology.
You are a highly motivated scientist and committed to scientific excellence.
Experience with molecular biology, immunological and in vitro / in vivo techniques is a plus.

Excellent working conditions in an international and stimulating work environment.
