Introduction INM - Leibniz-Institute for New Materials gGmbH is an internationally leading center for interdisciplinary research on hybrid materials, and their exploitation in materials-based solutions for a sustainable world with increasing digitalization and medical needs. Our research integrates materials chemistry, biological processes, physical analysis, and process engineering. We aim for leadership in the fields of bio-intelligent, electro-integrative, and opto-interactive material systems. In these areas, we actively seize opportunities to transfer our scientific results into materials-driven innovation. To strengthen our scientific portfolio and support the next generation of scientific leaders, INM invites applications for Senior Postdoctoral Scientists as Future Research Leader (f/m/d) in (Living) Hybrid Materials within the INM Rising Stars Program. Applicants are invited to submit research proposals aligned with INM’s scientific mission in the context of materials for health and quality of life, or materials for energy and resource efficiency. Specifically, applications in the topic of materials with potential applications in therapeutics, wearables, sensors, or energy are invited. Interdisciplinary directions and approaches that include AI and data-driven approaches are particularly welcome. You implement your research ideas and develop your first own research project within INM and contribute to INM’s scientific excellence. You establish and strengthen a visible, own scientific profile and collaboration network. You publish in leading journals. You prepare an application for starting up your research group with funding schemes such as ERC Starting Grants, Emmy Noether, or comparable programs. You hold a PhD and first postdoc in a relevant discipline (e.g. materials science, chemistry, biology, physics, (microsystems) engineering). You have a strong publication record from both PhD and postdoc phase. You show evidence of scientific creativity and productivity, and a strong motivation to develop toward independent research leadership. The perspective to build your own, independent research group. Mentoring by senior scientific leaders. Comprehensive support for grant proposal development. An interdisciplinary and international research environment. State-of-the-art infrastructure including core facilities. A stimulating scientific environment. Strong scientific visibility. Family-friendly working conditions. The position is initially funded for two years (100% TVL E13). Successful applicants are expected to develop and submit a competitive third-party funding proposal with the objective of establishing an independent research program. Following successful funding acquisition, the position may be promoted to TVL E14 scale.
