Beschreibung
The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft currently operates 75 institutes and research institutions throughout Germany and is the world’s leading applied research organization. Around 32 000 employees work with an annual research budget of 3.4 billion euros. The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS, located in Erlangen, is the largest institute of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft with more than 1 200 employees.
Welcome to the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS, headquartered in Erlangen! As the largest institute within the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, we have been conducting research for over 30 years in diverse fields such as artificial intelligence, microelectronics, sensor systems, data acquisition, signal processing, and signal transmission. Talented individuals from various engineering and natural science disciplines will find a wide range of exciting research topics under one roof. A few highlights that reflect our innovative strength include neuromorphic computing, 5G/6G mobile communication technologies, generative AI in speech and signal processing, and X-ray imaging for e-mobility. And that’s just the beginning! What sustainable solution will you find with us?
Here's how you will make a difference
The department "Broadband and Broadcast" of the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits drives the development of new technologies for artificial intelligence and communication systems. In the field of neuromorphic computing, we focus on the implementation of robust and adaptive algorithms for deep neural networks (DNNs) and spiking neural networks (SNNs) on highly specialized, energy-efficient hardware architectures. We are looking to expand our ambitious Neuromorphic Computing Solutions team with a highly motivated expert who is ready to design, develop and implement intelligent systems for industrial use.
* Optimization of AI algorithms: You will research, develop and improve AI algorithms, in particular spiking neural networks, as well as tools, methods and benchmarks for their design and simulation on embedded hardware, in particular neuromorphic hardware.
* Implementation of system solutions: You will carry out robust and resilient neuromorphic end-to-end system solutions for edge applications such as communication systems, autonomous systems or Industry 4.0.
* Actively Contribute: You will actively contribute your own ideas to shaping the research topic of neuromorphic computing and participate in the development of the technical aspects of project proposals as well as in the group's public relations work.
* Project management: After a comprehensive induction program, you will take over the technical project management of research and development projects and guide the project team in technical matters.
What you bring to the table
* University degree with specialization in machine learning, artificial intelligence, signal processing, control systems or neuroinformatics.
* Experience in the implementation and training of deep neural networks (spiking neural networks is an advantage).
* Good knowledge of the properties and application of different classes and architectures of neuromorphic hardware.
* Good programming skills in Python; knowledge of another programming language (C/C++) is an advantage.
* You are able to incorporate current scientific findings in the search for usable solutions. You evaluate new ideas independently and have a structured way of working.
* You have a very good understanding of English and a good understanding of German, or are willing to develop these skills in the near future.
If you are interested and ready to take the initiative, we also offer you the opportunity to carry out a doctoral project for which we will gladly provide support.
What you can expect
