# System Engineer for IT-Security

So do we! The Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) operates one of the most powerful supercomputer and quantum computer infrastructures in Europe and makes it available to scientists in Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany and Europe for research purposes.
The Communication Systems and Services division at the JSC is an experienced and dedicated team with a diverse range of tasks. It is responsible for the planning, operation and further development of the data communication networks at the research centre (campus networks, Internet, supercomputer networks) and provides central systems and services for IT security. Through research and development work, the division ensures that these will continue to meet the high demands of a research institution in the future.
### Your Job
In the IT security Team you will work on ensuring and further developing IT security at the research centre. Depending on your qualifications and interests, you will be active in the following areas, among others:
- Operation and further development of the central firewall systems
- CERT: Detection and handling of security incidents, information about vulnerabilities
- Development or improvement of tools to maintain IT security and to automate routine tasks of the IT security team
- Regularly checking the security status of the server and client systems in the FZJ with suitable tools
- Collaboration in the planning, introduction and operation of new services to improve IT security at the FZJ; evaluation of new hardware and software technologies and products
- Supporting the IT security officer of the research centre in his tasks
### Your Profile
- You have successfully completed a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, for example in computer science, (techno-)mathematics, electrical engineering, or a related field
- You have experience and knowledge in IT security and one or more of the above-mentioned task areas
- You are interested in familiarising yourself with new techniques and topics
- You have a structured way of working and the ability to work cooperatively
- You enjoy working with users and partners (in German and English) to develop communication/IT security solutions.
- Ideally, you are familiar with the administration of macOS, Linux or Windows
- At best, you also have knowledge of one or more script languages
- You have a very good command of written and spoken English with extensive vocabulary is required (at least B2 level according to the [CEFR](https://go.fzj.de/languagerequirements "https://go.fzj.de/languagerequirements")), ideally supported by a certificate confirming the language level. In addition, your very good German skills round off your profile
