Task and responsibilities:

- Implement automated test suites for FPGA designs using VHDL, covering both functional and performance testing
- Integrate the automated tests into our CI/CD pipeline, leveraging tools like GitHub Actions or GitLab CI/CD
- Develop test harnesses and frameworks to enable efficient and scalable FPGA testing using VHDL and VUnit
- Collaborate with FPGA designers and developers to understand requirements and implement test automation solutions
- Design, build, and configure complex test racks with FPGA hardware and supporting equipment
- Implement the use of simulation tools like Modelsim and Questasim for FPGA verification with VHDL
- Work with FPGA vendor tools such as Altera Quartus, Xilinx Vivado, and Lattice Diamond to ensure seamless integration
- Analyze test results, identify and troubleshoot issues, and provide recommendations for process improvements
- Document test strategies, procedures, and results to ensure traceability and maintainability

Knowledge:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Extensive experience in implementing test automation, particularly in the FPGA or hardware design domain using VHDL
- Demonstrated ability to design, build, and configure complex test racks for FPGA and System hardware
- Strong expertise in FPGA design and verification methodologies
- Familiarity with some of the tools listed in the above responsabilities
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages like Python, bash, (yaml, C optional) and VHDL
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Language skills: German fluent; English fluent
