As an Air Freight Operator, you’ll play a key role in keeping freight moving smoothly across the globe. As an Air Freight Operator, you’ll play a key role in keeping freight moving smoothly across the globe. Based in Frankfurt, you’ll manage the end-to-end coordination of air freight shipments, ensuring every job is handled accurately, efficiently, and in line with customer expectations, carrier schedules, and compliance requirements.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You’ll be the go-to person for shipment updates, problem-solving, and keeping customers informed, while working closely with airlines, customs brokers, transport providers, and internal teams to deliver great outcomes.
**What you’ll be doing**
- Coordinating air import and export shipments from booking through to final delivery.
- Working with airlines, overseas agents, customs brokers, transport providers, and customers to ensure smooth movement of freight.
- Preparing and checking shipping documentation, including airway bills, manifests, invoices, and customs paperwork.
- Making sure all shipments meet regulatory, airline, and company compliance requirements.
- Tracking freight and proactively resolving delays, issues, or exceptions.
- Keeping customers and internal stakeholders informed with timely, accurate updates.
- Assisting with rate enquiries, pricing, and booking confirmations.
- Working with warehouse and transport teams to ensure cargo flows seamlessly.
- Supporting invoice checking, cost control, and accurate job file management.
- Supporting process improvements where needed.
**Qualifications**
- 2+ years experience in freight forwarding
- Strong understanding of import/export processes and freight documentation.
- Confidence using freight systems, airline platforms, and customs processes.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to stay calm, organised, and solution-focused in a busy environment.
- A sharp eye for detail and a strong sense of ownership.
