The Innovative Electron Microscopy Department develops and applies electron microscopy methodologies for nanoscale and atomic-resolution characterization of functional materials and their interfaces, with specific focus on soft-hard interfaces.


EU PROJECT MANAGER FOR MSCA DOCTORAL NETWORK (F/M/D)

(Working hours between 75% and 100%, by agreement)

We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified person who is passionate about working as an EU Project Manager (f/m/d) with a group of 15 Doctoral Candidates and their supervisors within the 4-year Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Network “e-ChemIn - ElectroChemical Interfaces for energy conversion and storage: towards a carbon-neutral society”. E-ChemIn is united by the idea of applying a new paradigm in designing energy devices, shifting the current approach of creating individual materials towards engineering electrochemically active material interfaces.


The project manager will work closely with the Scientific Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Nadja Tarakina, assisting in the coordination of project activities, managing the training, operational, and financial activities, and ensuring the implementation of the project in accordance with the Grant and Consortium Agreements.
Ensure the organizational management of the project (assisting the coordinator in the implementation of the project, preparation and follow-up of meetings and decisions, helping to organize project-related events, ensuring the production of deliverables within deadlines, etc.)


Management of administrative and financial aspects of the project (acting as a point of contact for administrative inquiries from project participants, assisting beneficiaries with administrative tasks within the project in accordance with the administrative rules and procedures of MSCA, managing and monitoring financial matters and consortium-wide distribution of pre-financing, interim and final payments, coordinating the submission of financial reports, etc.)


Perform administrative tasks (helping to prepare financial progress reports and minutes of consortium meetings, assisting in drafting reports to the EU, managing and monitoring the project web page, implementing internal and external communication tools, etc.)

The position is available from 1 September 2026 at the Innovative Electron Microscopy Department of the INM - Leibniz Institute for New Materials.

We are looking for a highly motivated person (f/m/d) with a Master’s or PhD degree in electrochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a closely related field, who is self-driven and passionate about working in a multinational and multidisciplinary research consortium.
Working hours between 75% and 100%, by agreement.
Experience in research administration, financial reporting, report writing, and in the management and implementation of EU projects.
Good organizational and analytical skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
Very good communication and writing skills, with a thorough command of the English language and a proven knowledge of German language (C1).
Ability to work as a member of an international, multidisciplinary team.

Fixed-term contract for 4 years.
Payment follows the German collective wage agreement for government service workers (TV-L, on the E13 level).
