The project focuses on the further Development and Clinical Validation of the RETSUP Assay for Detecting Allo- and Autoantibodies in Immune-Mediated Thrombocytopenia for Use in Non-Specialized Coagulation Laboratories

The aim of this project is to improve the diagnostic accuracy of antibody-mediated thrombocytopenia, including fetal/neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (FNAIT) and immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). These conditions impair primary hemostasis and increase bleeding risk due to accelerated degradation of platelets and their precursors. In our group, we have developed the RETSUP assay (Weber et al., 2024), which uses recombinantly expressed, tagged platelet antigens instead of donor platelets. The goal of the PhD project is to further develop and clinically validate the RETSUP assay.

**Your responsibilities:**

- You will work in the Biosensorics research group (supervision by: Dr. S. Weber), focusing on
-       Molecular biology techniques
-       Protein biochemistry
-       Spectroscopic methods
- Your work will contribute directly to the development and validation of a diagnostic assay with real clinical impact.

**Your profile:**
- You hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in biochemistry
- You have sound experience in molecular cloning, cell culture, and immunological assays
- You bring interest or experience in assay development and validation (desirable)
- You are highly motivated, curious, and enjoy working in a collaborative research environment
- You have sound knowledge of English and German
