Postdoctoral Researcher (all genders welcome)
This position should ideally be filled by June 2026 with a contract initially limited to 6 months. The regular working hours will be 39 hours per week, and the salary corresponds to the E13 TV-L (100 %) level. The position is affiliated with the group of Prof. Dr. Nadja Simeth (https://nasc-lab.com) in the framework of the Multiscale Bioimaging Cluster of Excellence (https://mbexc.de/de/). The lab works at the interface of photochemistry and biology and focuses on incorporating biomolecules in chemical, biohybrid, and biomimetic systems.
The prospective candidate will design and synthesize various photoresponsive molecules and investigate their properties spectroscopically, in collaboration with groups from biology and biochemistry on the Göttingen Campus and beyond.

Your profile
You…
- hold or will hold a PhD degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related areas, with a Master or Diplom in this fields
- have very good communication skills in written and spoken English,
- have a strong background in organic multistep synthesis,
- have experience in photochemistry (preparative, spectroscopy, and mechanistic investigations)
- ideally have experience in data processing and analysis with UV-Vis spectroscopy and HPLC,
- ideally have experience in training junior coworkers and strong motivation to take a mentoring role,
- ideally have experience in project management, proven by scientific articles
- ideally have experience in dynamically responsive fluorescent or photochemically active materials in the context of bioactive molecules
- be creative, and curious in acquiring new techniques
