The working group *Quantitative Animal Genetics* investigates the quantitative genetic background of traits relevant to resilient and efficient farm animals, alongside the development of innovative breeding strategies for modern farming systems and future production environments. The group is undergoing a relaunch and, in this context, is filling the following position:
# **Postdoctoral Researchers (m/f/d) with expertise in animal genetics and breeding**
**Start date** Earliest April 2026
**Working hours** Full time
**Limitation** 3 years with the option for extension (Tenure-Track)
**Remuneration** Pay group 13 TV-L

## **What to expect:**
- Involvement in research projects in quantitative genetics and animal breeding
- Present research at conferences
- Opportunities to develop teaching and lecturing skills through academic activities at the University of Rostock (Faculty for Agriculture, Civil and Environmental Engineering).
- Consulting activity in the field of experimental design, experimental planning and statistical support (\~25% of the workload).
**What to bring:**
- Scientific background in quantitative genetics and animal breeding preferably with a doctorate in agricultural sciences or a comparable field of study
- profound statistics and programming skills (R, Python, etc.).
- Eagerness to continuously advance and improve as a researcher and academic instructor
- Motivation to be an engaged and reliable team member, contributing beyond one’s own tasks.
- Proficiency in English (at least B2 level) and German (at least B2 level, or willingness to achieve proficiency promptly)
- A class B driver’s license is desirable
