Student assistant (m/f/d) for video production and communication
HeiGIT (Heidelberg Institute for Geoinformation Technology) conducts research on and with geographic information and makes it freely available for the benefit of the environment and society—for example, for researchers, aid organizations, and associations.
Do you enjoy video production and digital communication, and want your work to make a meaningful difference? Then you've come to the right place!
Our Outreach and Communication team is looking for a motivated student assistant (approx. 10 hours/week) to join us in May 2026 and support our team with creativity and technical know-how. Our mission: to bring research results from geoinformatics and technology to the public—clearly, vividly, and worldwide.
Your tasks:
* Planning, shooting, and editing videos
* Voiceovers/soundtracks and video editing (e.g., with Adobe Premiere or comparable software)
In addition to your core task in video production, you can also assist with other tasks depending on your interests and strengths, for example:
* Preparing content for the web and social media
* Translations from English → German
* Maintaining and updating website content
* Design, research, or editorial tasks
Your profile:
* You have experience in video production and video editing (Adobe Premiere or similar programs)
* You speak and write fluent German and English
* You are interested in geography, geoinformatics, computer science, or related fields of research (or already have experience in these fields)
* You enjoy working independently and reliably and enjoy creative teamwork
Nice to have (but not a must):
* Knowledge of graphic design (e.g., InDesign)
* Experience with website maintenance (WordPress)
* Interest in blogging, social media (LinkedIn, Mastodon, Bluesky), or press relations
