About the role The AI Research Division of Agile Robots is looking for a Working Student (m/f/d) Robotic Teleoperation . This role supports development and operation of teleoperation systems within the RTS team, with a focus on software integration for haptic devices and running robot demonstrations. The working student contributes directly to engineering workflows and demo infrastructure.
Your Responsibilities
• Haptic Integration: Develop and maintain software for haptic gloves and integrate them into the existing teleoperation pipeline.
• VR Setup: Set up and run VR-based robot demonstrations and teleoperation sessions under engineer guidance.
• Demo Support: Operate and monitor systems during internal and external demonstrations, identifying and escalating anomalies in real time.
• Debugging Assistance: Reproduce and document system issues, run diagnostic scripts, and support engineers in isolating root causes.
• System Documentation: Maintain clear records of system states, configuration changes, and recurring issues to support engineering continuity.
Essential Skills
• Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's programme in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Python: Working proficiency in Python sufficient to write, read, and modify scripts within an existing robotics codebase.
• Robotics Foundations: Basic understanding of robotic system components — sensors, actuators, controllers — sufficient to follow engineering discussions and spot anomalies.
• ROS: Basic familiarity with ROS sufficient to run nodes, inspect topics, and execute standard debugging workflows.
Beneficial Skills
• VR/AR Devices: Hands-on experience with consumer or research-grade VR/AR headsets in a development or lab setting.
• Simulation Environments: Exposure to robotics simulation tools (e.g. Gazebo, Isaac Sim) as a complement to hardware work.
• Vision Correction: Ability to operate VR headsets without corrective lenses; current VR hardware used by the team has limited compatibility with glasses.
