For the Department of Molecular Machines and Signaling (Prof. B. Schulman, Ph.D.) we are looking for a

**Technical assistant (m/f/d)**

The technical assistant performs experimental work in the research area of structural cell biology and regulation of proteins, supports general lab function, and provides technical support to other members of the department.

The position is initially limited to two years. With the appropriate aptitude, further employment for an indefinite period is possible and desirable.

**Responsibilities will include – other duties may be assigned**

- Maintenance and growth of cell cultures, especially insect cell culture, including transfection and/or infection for production of proteins
- Conduct protein expression and purification experiments through column chromatography via ÄKTA systems
- Preparing and performing standard and difficult experiments in molecular biology, including cloning experiments, nucleic acid purification, and analysis and the control of the results
- Care and operation of equipment
- Assistance with stock control, organisation, and care of the lab environment
- Preparation of media and buffers
- General lab tasks

**Your profile**

- Education as a technical assistant (BTA, MTA, CTA) is a prerequisite
- Experience in mammalian and insect cell culture and/or working with viruses
- Solid knowledge of standard molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and cell biology techniques
- Comfortable with the use of technical, computer-controlled equipment
- Interested in learning new procedures
- Enjoy working in an international and interdisciplinary team
- Good written and spoken English and German, confident to use English and German in the work environment
- Very good organizational skills
- Willingness to work independently, reliably, and responsibly
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
