The Institute for Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen is looking to fill the position of a

Research Assistant (Postdoc) (f/m/d)

This position should be filled by March 2026 with an initially limited contract of one year. The regular working hours will be 39,8 per week (full-time position) and the salary corresponds to the E13 TV-L (100 %) level (Part time employment is also possible).

The position is affiliated with the group of Prof. Dr. Manuel Alcarazo, who works on the synthesis and design of new catalysts and reagents based on P, S and neighbouring elements. Specifically, the successful candidate will be involved in the development of new reagents based on sulfur ylides and the development of their synthetic applications.

We are looking for an outstanding chemist with strong theoretical background and experience working in organic synthesis and main group chemistry. A master degree and a PhD in chemistry is a mandatory requriment. Expertise in analytical and spectroscopic tools, as well as proven experience on the synthesis of sensitive compounds under inert atmosphere using Schlenck techniques are fundamental. The ideal candidate is expected to be creative, capable to work independently, and team player. Excellent communication and organizatorial skills are also requested.
